"Pax" - Peace is probably the oldest desired topic of the people worldwide, and yet it has hardly been realized on a large or small scale over the millennia, not even in the Christian religion, whose primary task it was to be. The artist has this picture deliberately published in the period before Christmas, when there is much talk of peace. And especially in this Corona year, people feel how much they long for peace and security, but unfortunately…
hopes are a bit darkened. The painter expressed this mood in her picture. A frame that just barely holds the cross, both painted with a rusty ground, colors light up, perhaps giving hope and the letters flying around should come together to form the word. "Pax".

Margarete Bartsch doesn’t try to map her paintings. Rather, she endeavors to understand their inner characteristics, form, and language. The German artist’s current abstract works convey a simple artistic language through color, form, and structure. Bartsch’s prefers to paint using egg tempera, mixing color pigments with oil substances to create fluid colors. As each layer takes a long time to dry, her creative process is lengthy, which suits her just fine.
