About this artwork
That morning, the dining room was bathed in sunlight. The canary, usually locked in a cage, had been moved outside. As I watched him, I wondered what it felt like to live in that golden prison. One day, moved by compassion, I decided to free him. With my heart in my throat, I opened the door of the cage. Frightened, the canary fluttered frantically and then, with a leap, launched himself into the sky. I watched him move away, smaller and smaller,… until he became a black dot. I greeted him with a smile, happy to have given him freedom. I knew that they would soon find out about me, but at that moment I felt only joy and relief.
Maria Teresa Cristini is a painter, sculptor and digital artist who transforms everyday experiences into works of art. He uses oil and digital painting techniques, and explores three-dimensional painting with poor materials, creating dense and vibrant textures. His works, characterized by bright colors and intense light, reflect the tranquil beauties of his native land, the Marche, and convey sensations of peace and harmony. Maria considers art as the only tool of communication and introspection to represent her world.
