About this artwork
"Refinement" is an illustration made with colored pencils (Faber Castell polychromos) on 200g/m2 paper, 29.7x42cm format. In this portrait, I wanted to combine the power and softness of the human body, playing with the dynamism of bright pinks, a pose associated with femininity with a body that seems rather masculine, blurring the boundaries of gender stereotypes: who are we facing? Each curve is carefully drawn to evoke vulnerability, mass, pride…
and strength, both internal and external. It exudes an intense energy but also a subtle elegance, inviting us to question our potential preconceptions and to observe a body differently.
