About this artwork
In the evening, empty square, only a few shops and street lights diffuse light. Nobody in the street and in the square, but bicycles placed against a lamppost, a parked car, the light inside indicate the presence of life. This void is not distressing. The colors used (blue, purple, pink) are soft and pastel.
The subject is painted on material that gives relief to the painting and allows a semi-abstract treatment that can be distinguished by looking… closely.

« Do not leave the viewer indifferent, create emotion. »
Marie Ferrand is an artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. She describes the central themes in her art as relating to scenes inspired by life, humans, and their joys and sorrows. Ferrand primarily creates with acrylics, as their fast-drying quality suits her spontaneous brushstrokes. In addition, she employs mixed techniques with impasto and collage on canvas.
