About this artwork
Penelope
Through Penelope, I wanted to share a story of resilience and hope. She represents the strength it takes to survive trauma and the courage to transform pain into something meaningful. Her gaze is reflective yet determined, embodying the quiet power of someone who has endured but refuses to be defined by hardship.
The bold, chaotic colors surrounding her symbolize life’s challenges, but the golden accents and delicate patterns remind us… that beauty and strength can emerge from even the darkest moments. Penelope is not just a survivor—she is an inspiration, a reminder that we can rise above our struggles and help others find their own light.
« I breathe art, I eat art and I am happy. Art is in my blood. Art is my life. »
Marie Manon Corbeil began to paint amidst personal challenges:‘Between sadness and hope, there was art’. Realizing that life’s difficulties provided her with a new means of expression, Corbeil wants to convey a sense of joy within her contemporary abstract works. She draws forms and writes positive words under each canvas before beginning a piece. Employing large brushes to provoke unplanned strokes, she also uses her fingers to optimize the vibrant colors in her compositions.
