Perceptions1618 se déploie sur près de deux mètres cinquante comme un horizon englouti — un bleu cobalt profond au sommet se dissout en verts oxydés, puis en un sédiment presque noir à la base. La surface porte une véritable histoire physique : la fibre-support est intervenue aux acides et par variations de température contrôlées, ouvrant sa structure pour générer texture et volume, avant d'être reconsolidée avec des colles plastiques haute résistance.…
Sur ce fond préparé, des oxydes vieux de plus d'un siècle, brûlés à l'acide, sont superposés en 72 glacis successifs, à l'huile de lin, à l'eau, à l'alcool et à base de latex. L'ensemble de la composition est structuré selon la proportion du nombre d'or, conférant à l'œuvre un ordre architectural sous-jacent, sous une surface profondément atmosphérique.
