About this artwork
This is about the obstruction of sea life by floating debris as it journeys through the water. She made this sheet of paper using cotton pulp, which she painted with pigmented pulp while the paper was forming. The red lines are of pigment that was drawn onto the wet paper, which, when dry, became part of the fiber. The collaged elements are woodblock and linoleum block prints that she printed, cut out, and adhered to the surface. Some of the elements…
are printed directly onto the paper. She collaged circles of other smaller sheets, and then used acrylic washes to complete the image.
