About this artwork
"HERMES III" This work is dated 2005 and was created on wood, with a fretwork cutout. I then displaced the cutout portion, producing a sense of movement within the design. As in other works from these years, I am creating designs that envision humanity's future habitat in its already underway conquest of outer space. Human beings will colonize outer space, beginning with Earth's natural satellite, the Moon, and continuing to advance to the planets…
that make up the Solar System, first and foremost the red planet, Mars. In all cases, I wish to express an atmosphere of speed, silence, peace, and weightlessness.
