About this artwork
Mind The Gap (1970-2020)
Acrylic on canvas 120/90 cm 2020. Self-portrait. Part of the Brave New World Series
Hereby I present my latest artwork, painting from the Brave New World Series, ‘Mind The Gap’. This is the year I turned 50 (24-08-70). I traditionally paint a self-portrait every now and then, mostly in response to a key moment. Becoming 50 is such a key moment. Meet my much younger self in a swing, 3,5 years old. I am holding the collar… of Vesta, our boxer dog. I imagine my parent’s staged it. But I took my job seriously, you can tell by the determined look on my face. At the time we lived in Scharwoude (North Holland).
