About this artwork
'Bird Bath' from the 'Blue Light Windows' series was inspired by large bird bath a friend of Mark's was commissioned to construct out of metal and glass. Once it was up on the property it was a sight to behold. It floated along the hillside and the birds came and played in the pool of water. The painting attempts to create the same atmosphere of beauty and the free flight of birds. The bird cage door is always open in this painting.

« Change is inevitable and something I seek. »
American painter Mark Erickson was first inspired to paint by his grandmother, who was an artist herself. He has since exhibited in major cities across the United States. Erickson works with acrylic on canvas or wood, and sometimes adds additional collage elements. Inspired by literature, comics, and music, his artistic process is like a dance- constantly changing and full of spontaneity. Erickson's abstract expressionist works are bright, atmospheric, and humorous.
