"Light in Dark" unfolds an intense, emotional color landscape where vibrant reds meet deep, dark nuances. The upper half of the image is dominated by a vibrant field of warm carmine and magenta, which gradually thickens into a dark, almost impenetrable terrain towards the bottom.
A narrow, bright strip of light breaks through this heaviness and draws the viewer's gaze – like a faint horizon or a distant glow. The subtly placed turquoise line reinforces… this moment and acts as a delicate impulse of hope and clarity.

Marlene Schanz is a self-taught painter who has been experimenting with color, intuition, and direct hand contact since 2011, independently developing her own unique visual language. She works with a poetic blend of abstraction and subtle figuration, employing surreal moods, symbols such as fish and moons, and multifaceted color harmonies. Her works create intimate, almost ethereal spaces and powerfully convey a longing for memory, balance, and a sense of inner freedom.
