About this artwork
DECRYPTION OF NOWHERE
The MYZEL photographs by Martin Ecker strive for a decoding of the elementary structures, to "something more real than the real" itself. Landscapes, buildings, people collapse in matter and form.
Martin Ecker's Decryption of Nowhere is a fascinating analogy to the 16th-century Voynich manuscript. The works show an imaginary world that appears like an illusion and invites the viewer to solve the mystery it holds. Much like… the Voynich Manuscript, Ecker's works appear illegible and give the impression of harboring a hidden truth just waiting to be discovered.

Martin Ecker is a painter and photographer based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally. He cites space, time, and light playing a role in almost all of his compositions. In addition, Ecker's artistic practice favors experimentation with reactive processes and approaches. He has developed his own methods using living organisms in analog photography and also employs oxidation processes of precious metals his paintings.
