About this artwork
Artist Ecker calls his latest work, which is part of his project "Abstrait des Collages," "Schweinehund." The title of the painting, "Schweinehund," evokes unwanted associations with the inner struggles and base instincts of humans. Ecker draws attention to the nuances of human nature, which often oscillates between temptation and reason. The multi-layered depiction conveys psychological depth and entices the viewer to reflect on the struggle between…
light and shadow, between good and evil.
The composition impresses with its balance of darkness and light and symbolizes inner conflict and the search for greater self-control. Ecker's "Schweinehund" is a tongue-in-cheek allegory for the constant struggle between individual weaknesses and the pursuit of inner strength.
