About this artwork
This painting is rich in symbolism and conveys a deep narrative. The "elephant in the room" is a well-known metaphor for an obvious problem that is being ignored. Here, the large, literal elephant in the modern, minimalist living space suggests unresolved issues within the couple in the background. Their distant body language hints at emotional detachment or unspoken tension.
The white dove, often associated with peace and hope, stands atop a suitcase… possibly symbolising a decision to leave or a desire for change. It suggests that one of them is preparing to face the truth, whether through reconciliation or separation.
The overall atmosphere of the artwork, with its cold tones and stark architecture, reinforces the theme of emotional isolation. The painting captures the weight of avoidance and the possibility of resolution, depending on whether the characters choose to confront the issue or continue to ignore it.
Wojnowski, a Chelsea College of Art and Design alumnus, exercises his superb skills in acrylic paintings and interior design. Mesmerizing spectators through fine detail blended with expressive brushwork, he delineates a whimsical, dreamlike world where precision coexists with artistic freedom. He compels, through vibrant nuances of colour, a dive into an enchanting universe of nostalgia, playfulness and surrealism, ultimately sparking profound joy, reflection and momentary escape from reality.
