Seated within the sheltered interior of a ferry, a solitary woman gazes out toward a restless sea under heavy, clouded skies. The cabin offers warmth, stability, and protection, yet its solid walls and glass window quietly assert their limits. Beyond them, the ocean surges, unpredictable, dangerous, alive.
A lone seabird cuts across the storm, moving freely through conditions the ferry seeks to escape. In that moment, the comfort of the interior… reveals itself not as freedom, but as containment. Safety becomes a boundary rather than a refuge.
Artwork explores the tension between security and autonomy, questioning whether protection can also be a form of restraint and whether true freedom requires exposure to risk, uncertainty, and loss of control.
