About this artwork
Artwork captures the peculiar stillness of a week just beginning a moment suspended between weariness and quiet contemplation. The dimly lit West London street hums with subdued energy, its darkened buildings standing as silent witnesses to the routine of urban life.
A solitary dog walker pauses, his gaze fixed on an almost surreal sight: a seal balancing a beach ball just outside the café. Is it real, or merely the mind playing tricks in the haze… of a sluggish Monday evening? The scene straddles the line between the ordinary and the absurd, reflecting the slightly detached, dreamlike state that often accompanies the start of the week.
The illuminated shop windows hint at unseen lives in motion, yet the streets remain mostly empty, emphasizing a sense of solitude and quiet introspection. The painting invites the viewer to embrace this liminal space, where reality bends just enough to allow for a moment of whimsy amid the mundane.
Wojnowski, a Chelsea College of Art and Design alumnus, exercises his superb skills in acrylic paintings and interior design. Mesmerizing spectators through fine detail blended with expressive brushwork, he delineates a whimsical, dreamlike world where precision coexists with artistic freedom. He compels, through vibrant nuances of colour, a dive into an enchanting universe of nostalgia, playfulness and surrealism, ultimately sparking profound joy, reflection and momentary escape from reality.
