In a cloistered room with patterned women & patterned walls like a Vuillard painting, they are surrounded by rules of behavior & civility determined by generations of human beings in order to survive as a species. And in the end we are rather good at it or… we probably wouldn’t be here. That is not to say that one doesn’t occasionally long to escape - like the lady who has turned her back to us as toy vehicles come to her rescue - leaving her sisters behind to stand patiently observing the drama.

« My work completes me. »
Mary Hatch is an American painter and printmaker whose works have been widely exhibited in the United States. Her artistic expression is fueled by the desire to "extract the truth". Hatch describes her figurative pieces as having evolved slowly over time. In addition to discovering her own voice, her art is also influenced by world events and elements of her daily life. While she enjoys digital creation, her painterly compositions are made using oils and pigments on linen.
