In his composition of marine woods, the artist imagined a nocturnal encounter between two animals: a deer and a phoenix. For the artist, the deer is a recurring subject in his works. Wild and primitive animal with a strong spiritual meaning and rich in symbolism: the strength of its body and spirit, and the sexual charge it exercises through its horns, but also the calm and renewal of life, for death and rebirth that every year their horns are renewed… and branched. Rising towards the sky, as if to communicate between the earthly and the spiritual world, the deer seems to want to reach an otherworldly world from which the bird, symbol of rebirth and resilience, returns in flight.
The assembly is a composition of woods collected on the beach and different recycled materials, glued on a grid of hemp threads wrapped around a wooden frame. On the back it has an iron hook to hang it.
« My Art is 'where I know the way', it is the place where I feel free to communicate and I am always myself. »
Maryda Geraci is an Italian artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States. She describes her artistic expression as the communication of short poetic stories, expressed through natural objects. Geraci's creative language is composed of signs and colors that are a reflection of herself, her sensitivity, what is happening around her, and the world she inhabits. She creates using acrylics and charcoal on canvas.
