About this artwork
The Care is my abstraction of a gesture that concerns social life, the group. Taking care of someone or something is the first form of altruism and is the desire to preserve history to pass it on to others. I took inspiration from a visit to a restoration laboratory, where shreds of fabric were placed in a case to be examined and preserved under X-rays. In this work, I explored the emotional interplay between the freedom of the abstract and gravity… of coal. Using acrylic, I wanted to impart a sense of irregular movement through floating shapes and dark lines that take on a rhythm of their own. The contrast of ombré shades creates a contemplative stillness. It is an invocation to inner investigation, where every viewer can find a space of calm and personal reflection. This art gives an energy of tranquility and depth to every environment in which it finds a home.
« My Art is 'where I know the way', it is the place where I feel free to communicate and I am always myself. »
Maryda Geraci is an Italian artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States. She describes her artistic expression as the communication of short poetic stories, expressed through natural objects. Geraci's creative language is composed of signs and colors that are a reflection of herself, her sensitivity, what is happening around her, and the world she inhabits. She creates using acrylics and charcoal on canvas.
