I place a solid black form at the center, letting it stand quietly but firmly against a field of soft pink. Around it, I arrange blocks of turquoise like shifting thoughts—floating, overlapping, never fully settling. The contrast feels intentional to me: weight and lightness, stillness and motion, presence and pause.
I leave the brushwork exposed, allowing rough edges and uneven textures to record the act of making. Nothing here is polished away.… The shapes lean into each other, finding balance through proximity rather than symmetry.
In this piece, I am reflecting on steadiness within change. I hold space for calm without removing tension, letting color and form coexist in a state of quiet resolve.
Masahito UJI is a top fashion designer in Japan. His clothes have been highly praised by the Japanese royal family, politicians and business celebrities for many years. He has loved painting since he was a child, and he picked up the brush again at the age of 70. With 40 years of experience in fashion design, he has flexible and diverse painting techniques. He is good at using ink and acrylic and other different materials to embody movement in stillness and stillness in movement. His colors are simple and bright, majestic but not heavy. His paintings bring warmth and joy to people, like a ray of light illuminating the tranquility of the heart.
This is the first time I have published my artwork. I hope you like it.
