About this artwork
I let bold black forms anchor the composition, grounding them against a vivid field of electric green. The weight of these rounded shapes feels deliberate to me—solid, unapologetic—while the sharp magenta blocks hover like quiet interruptions, moments of tension that keep the surface awake and alive.
As I worked, I embraced contrast: dark against bright, heavy against light, stillness against movement. The rough edges and visible strokes are intentional,… traces of my hand and rhythm left behind. What emerges is a sense of balance found through opposition, a confidence built not from harmony alone, but from friction.
In this piece, I am exploring resilience in its most graphic form—standing firm, taking space, and allowing bold color and shape to speak without hesitation.

Masahito UJI is a top fashion designer in Japan. His clothes have been highly praised by the Japanese royal family, politicians and business celebrities for many years. He has loved painting since he was a child, and he picked up the brush again at the age of 70. With 40 years of experience in fashion design, he has flexible and diverse painting techniques. He is good at using ink and acrylic and other different materials to embody movement in stillness and stillness in movement. His colors are simple and bright, majestic but not heavy. His paintings bring warmth and joy to people, like a ray of light illuminating the tranquility of the heart.
