About this artwork
HEKATE (Hecate) was the goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She is often represented as three women, holding torches to guide the way. the gold organic brushstrokes on either side are meant to represent said torches but also her magic beaming through. The thee intertwining figure are a representation of the maiden, mother and crone - all part of the same being, Hekate. The choice of working on unprimed canvas was…
to convey a sense of rawness to the piece.
