About this artwork
I developed an interest existentialists. Jean Paul Sartre (born June 21, 1905, —died April 15, 1980, Paris) and Simone de Beauvoir (born January 9, 1908, Paris, died April 14, 1986, Paris). They were a great influence on the arts as well as society. In post war France they influenced a lot of artists.
An investigation into the two personatities, separated from one another. He in orange, as an intellectual colour; she in blue as one struggling with… her identity as a woman in relation to Sartre's confident manner.
The setting of a French restaurant, outdoors, with a waiter represents Sartre's take on freedom and truth. The waiter is not free to be himself and is not being true to himself.
The restaurant is reduced to essential space so as not to detract from the personalities in the foreground.
the main colours of blue, green and orange are chosen for their meaning rather than their harmony. flowers are a compositional element meant to strengthen the vertical.
I am painter who uses oil on canvas and pastel drawings . I like colour, and imaginative compositions to reflect the unconscious impulses, and I explore culture. I am a songwriter, some of my songs are available to listen to as MP3's on my https://www.orphan-annie.com where I publish my broader range of creativity if you wish to explore. I did one poetry performance in the 1980's. July 1993. Performance: "It's a Parody of Me". London Filmmakers Co-op, Summer Show, 42, Gloucester Avenue, NW1. Organised a multimedia performance piece, of poetry with video, slides and movement.
