About this artwork
“Epicenter” is a mixed media piece on wood panel. The artist created this work in response to the Coronavirus pandemic and he specifically focused on the impact to New York City. It was the artist’s intention to give the piece a sculptural feel to push the limits of a two dimensional medium. In order to capture the raw grittiness of this subject, the artist used wood, copper wire, bolts and various hardware. He also used acrylic, paint marker,…
charcoal, collage, pencil, and pastel. The sides of the panel are painted black and it is wired for hanging with a paper backing. The artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. This piece was exhibited at Van Der Plas Gallery, New York, New York, USA (2020).

« In my eyes, the best art comes from the gut and not the mind. The more I can remove conscious thought from the creative process, the better the final work becomes! »
Michael Doering is an experienced American painter with international exposure. He seeks to create art that is as raw and expressive as possible, focusing on highlighting both visual and conceptual contrasts such as those between old and new, slow and fast, controlled and spontaneous. His compositions blur negative and positive space, merging them into a united co-existence of strength and nuance, clarity and mystery.
