About this artwork
“Quanah Parker” is a mixed media piece (charcoal, watercolor, ink, pencil, and pastel) on paper. This work was inspired by Quanah Parker, the Comanche chief. By contrasting realism with abstract expression, it was the artist's hope that the viewer would be able to see the complexity of this leader. This piece is available through Ex Fabrilis Gallery in Dijon, France.

« In my eyes, the best art comes from the gut and not the mind. The more I can remove conscious thought from the creative process, the better the final work becomes! »
Michael Doering is an experienced American painter with international exposure. He seeks to create art that is as raw and expressive as possible, focusing on highlighting both visual and conceptual contrasts such as those between old and new, slow and fast, controlled and spontaneous. His compositions blur negative and positive space, merging them into a united co-existence of strength and nuance, clarity and mystery.
