A striking portrait of the character Jack Torrent from the film The Shining. Iconically played by Jack Nicholson, this piece represents the sheer terror and energy from the most striking scene in the entire film and maybe in entire movie history.
To create this piece, the artist deliberately tried to instil a sense of unease in themselves. They listened to just one album on repeat—Arctic Monkeys’ Tranquillity Base Hotel & Casino (which, fittingly,… was itself reportedly inspired by Kubrick’s work)—and immersed themselves in short horror stories. A belief in deep, focused immersion, especially when pushing into new creative territory.
