This digital work is born from the intertwining of surrealist and symbolic styles, mixing the figurative with dystonic elements to explore the many faces of human identity and the internal struggle that each of us faces. Each face represents a different mask that we wear, an alter ego that emerges in the various contexts of life. It is a visual reminder of the complexity of being, a continuous dialogue between what we are, what we show and what we… hide. Bringing this work home means inviting a deep reflection on the many aspects of the human soul, an emotional dynamism that stimulates thoughts and discussions. The title takes up the famous Pirandello and exposes him in a very profound way. The work is the result of a mixed technique collage that was then digitized with graphics programs, so the drawing was enriched with photographic suggestions to develop a perfect balance between light and shadow, such as to strengthen the narrative concept.
The background of Michele Gaetano Calamita, award-winning graphic design artist and author, revolves around the use of acrylics, pastels, markers, oil colors and collage. His techniques include digital retouching to create seamless works and the use of Autocad to add details. Calamita uses realistic, abstract and illustrative styles to bring portraits to life, which represent the beating heart of his work. His works awaken deep emotions and reflect the great questions of existence.
