About this artwork
Sanguine is a red ochre chalk for drawing on paper. To create these digital prints, I borrow these hues, which print with inkjet with the same flexibility as my old lithographs. Printing techniques evolve, and I explore them with pleasure, affirming my identity as a printmaker. The image is created on screen and printed on the same paper

Montreal-born artist Micheline Couture works with textiles, paper materials, and digital printmaking, enriched by a solid background in fine arts and a long teaching career. She fuses traditional printmaking techniques, screen printing on fabrics, and new digital practices to produce delicate miniatures printed in limited editions on archival paper. Her works capture marine and desert atmospheres, silhouettes in motion, and convey a profound emotion, oscillating between the melancholy of landscapes and the luminous brilliance of island life.
