About this artwork
I keep thinking about what it means to reach for something better. Not in a grand way, just the daily act of it. In "Higher," layers build like sky, like hope. How do we all connect, rise up, drift, come back together? Golden yellow shows up in the middle. Maybe goodness lives here? Not above everything, but right in the middle of it. You decide. Four full moons ago I started painting this wondering where it would go. Adding things, painting over,…
letting it sit, seeing what it needed, coming back. I finished it under the blue moon. Please see additional photos for details.
Full size- 70H x 96W inches, leaving ample canvas (3 inches on each of 4 sides) to stretch on deep stretcher bars to its 64H x 90W x 2D in. image as shown. It's signed on back and ships in a tube. This is safest for oversized works. Rolled canvas can be easily stretched (placed onto stretcher bars) by a local framer.

Michelle Louis is a full-time American painter based near Madison, Wisconsin, USA. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, and included in corporate and private collections throughout the United States and worldwide, including the National Gallery of Costa Rica. Artist and naturalist trained in studio art, graphic design, and landscape architecture, Michelle Louis's studio extends to her yard, where she nurtures an edible landscape. She received her BA from the University of Wisconsin, USA.
