About this artwork
I painted this winter scene for the quiet that comes after a snowfall—the way sound seems to soften and the world feels held in place for a moment. The bare trees create a web of dark lines against the cool blue air, and I leaned into that contrast to let the structure of the branches feel almost calligraphic.
The fence sits low and half-buried, an ordinary boundary made gentle by snow. I liked how it suggests a path without insisting on one—something… private and familiar tucked inside the woods. The palette is intentionally restrained: layered blues and grays for the cold, with warm browns in the fence and brush to keep a sense of life beneath the frost.
For me, this painting is also about feeling the cold of winter after a fresh snowfall.
