About this artwork
A homage to Gustav Klimt, one of her great influences, she is fascinated by the interplay of light and shadow, and how the richness of the metallic gold brings out the depth of the painting. Attention to detail is a form of mediation, every stroke and form expressing deep emotion and a sense of calm. She works a lot with circles, as it is a symbol which represents the notions of totality, wholeness, eternity, the infinite.

Canadian artist Mishel Schwartz knew that she wanted to be a painter from a young age, when she would hide at the top of the stairs near her parent' studio, watching them paint live models. Her abstract pieces are inspired by the natural world, and the lure of nature is at the heart of every piece she creates. Schwartz uses the medium of alcohol ink, amazed by its fluidity and its translucent properties. She believes it is the perfect medium to balance the need for control and the need for freedom.
