We consider the frame an integral part of each artwork. “Shine Color bird” is hand-printed on Hahnemühle paper, with feathers rendered in rich tonal gradations and textured touches. Gold ink subtly enhances the depth and luminosity. The frame is crafted from solid chestnut wood, left uncoated to showcase its natural beauty, with a mat to emphasize the artwork’s quiet elegance.

mocchi mocchi is a sister printmaking duo based in Kyoto, composed of Sachiko Mochizuki and Junko Mochizuki. Working in a studio inherited from their master printer, they employ hand-pulled silkscreen techniques and collaborate closely, blending their individual sensibilities into each artwork.
Their work combines precise lines with subtle tonal gradations, transforming everyday motifs—such as cats, vases, and trees—into simplified, abstract forms. By thoughtfully utilizing negative space, each motif’s essential presence is highlighted, leaving a lasting impression on the viewer.
Reflecting Japanese aesthetics such as ma (the space between) and wabi-sabi, their prints also resonate with international movements like minimalism and abstract expressionism.
