About this artwork
All her work in Tuscany, was photographed in the environment in which she painted. “BLUE TEARS” followed her second painting (REMNANTS) in the 1000 year old structure which had originally housed the wine making and olive pressing facility, the original presses are still operable. The energy in the studio was still very oppressive and she felt trapped. She was guided to paint through dreams and feelings that she was experiencing. These… three nuns had witnessed atrocities and hypocrisy of men and had kept their secrets and their pain through all these years. They felt unworthy and yet they wanted to be set free. It took her several weeks to complete this painting. Texture, layers of paint and colour, and the ever present energy. When the painting was finished, she set it in the church for a photo shoot and visitors were taken in, without even knowing the story. The blue tears are a symbol of release.
