About this artwork
A young woman stood on a busy street in Lourmarin, South of France, summer 2022. She seemed to be waiting for someone, perhaps thinking about what she could do in the meantime. She stood quietly while people strolled around her or did their shopping. She seemed relaxed and at the same time attentive. She radiated so much calm and self-confidence! She inspired me to do this painting! I wanted to capture the light on her hair and clothes with my colors.…
The colors are the colors of summer in Provence: yellow, green, ochre.... The background is abstract, emphasizing the figure as the main subject of the painting. In the center of the picture is the young woman's hand, its movement towards her mouth: this underlines the liveliness and naturalness of the figure.
