About this artwork
This painting was created after a trip to Venice where I made many sketches. I fell in love with this city and felt its fragility. The colors here reflect the mood by the water in the morning hours. In this painting I captured the vivid emotions and bright colors of Fauvism to create a dramatic yet peaceful interpretation of Venice. The powerful brushstrokes and intense colors emphasize the romantic mood that can be felt everywhere in this city.… This work brings a dynamic warmth to any room, it pulsates with life and promotes an environment of inspiration and reflection.
Monique Jacquemin, a trained watercolorist, expanded her repertoire with acrylic and oil painting at the arte fact art academy in Bonn. Her art reflects daily life and hovers between figuration and abstraction in order to use different color and form registers. Jacquemin creates multi-layered works that achieve complexity and depth through motifs, collages and texts. Her art encourages reflection on the absurdities and challenges of everyday life.
