About this artwork
As a busy creative, this is how the lockdowns of Covid-19 felt for me. I had mixed feelings. It took a long time to get used to life to the slower pace, but shortly after surrendering to a routine without deadlines, the UK started to re-open and I was thrust back into life in the fast lane.

Credentials
- Prizewinner
- Works on commission
Monique Oliver is a contemporary artist known for her distinctive approach combining spontaneous reactions with meticulously controlled techniques. Her work explores human emotions and mental states, often drawing from her personal battles with ill-health. These experiences necessitate prolonged periods of reflection followed by manic bursts of creativity, a duality that is vividly mirrored in her art. Oliver’s compositions use unusual colour combinations and dynamic patterns to evoke the unpredictable beauty found in her own “inner landscape”
Oliver has exhibited in the UK, EU, and USA. Representation by several fine art galleries, a short-listing for the Creates Magazine Artist Prize in 2018, and an Artrepreneur Award in 2022, solidified her status as a significant contemporary artist. Oliver continues to push the boundaries of fluid art, challenging viewers' perceptions and eliciting visceral responses.
