About this artwork
To create this sculpture, I first created a small model of Alien which served as my template.
Then I modeled a printed circuit board using a computer program.
Then I created a model of the printed circuit board with a laser engraver that I could use as a template.
Then I glued the 2 matrices together (Alien and printed circuit board matrix) and I made a sand mold by taking the impression of the matrix (see photo and video of the sculpture of the… large Alien) then I sculpted patterns in the sand.
As a final step, I polish the piece and then I apply a light patina using a blowtorch and black wax.
The base of the sculpture is the cast chimney.
