About this artwork
This wall sculpture represents the first stage of life when the cell begins to divide.
I represent it here as a kind of primitive ideogram.
The stone is a South African granite, hand-engraved with a chisel and mounted on plexiglass.
I added gold and silver leaf appliqués.
I deliberately used silver leaf which slowly tarnishes or even oxidizes over time.
Through this change in the appearance of the silver leaf linked to the mark of time, the… work becomes evolving.
The frame is made of painted wood and bolted together with the assembly.
