About this artwork
"occhi" is part of a series of eight oil paintings. Reinterpreting Greek vase painting with contemporary shapes and colors, this series seeks to explore allegorical scenes that are universally comprehensible. The aim is for each viewer to recognize in the painted subjects a fragment of their own past or to project into them auspicious imaginings for the future.
Guardian animals, enchanting mythological figures, beating hearts, and incomplete yet… triumphant statues become symbols of lived experiences—a celebration of painful wounds or magical tools to intervene in reality.
Depending on personal projections, the meanings will differ for each viewer and may evolve over time, generating infinite and ever-valid interpretations.

Nadia Resta
Italy
Nadia Resta, a painter by training, has her roots in freely expressing herself through painting. She uses various styles, techniques, colors and compositions, then transferring her studies to canvas and enriching them with an unrepeatable depth and texture with oil. Through allegories and universal symbols, her works celebrate pain as a moment of self-knowledge, and reflect an essential human need to express suffering rather than hide it.
