About this artwork
Nature has always been a sanctuary for me, especially when the pace of life feels too fast to keep up with. In these moments, I find myself drawn into the serene beauty of the landscapes around me, losing myself in their quiet tranquility.
There are times when I wish time would speed up, but more often than not, I long for it to slow down. That’s where the magic of painting comes in. When I’m painting, time seems to stand still. I can enter a meditative… state and travel to places in my mind that are otherwise unreachable in the chaos of everyday life.
In these quiet moments, I’m grateful for the present and the lost worlds I discover within it. Painting allows me to slow down, to immerse myself in the beauty of nature, and to find peace in the stillness.

« I aim to make the mundane fascinating and to shine a spotlight on the overlooked things in life. »
Nancy Joyce is an American mixed-media artist who is interested in the concepts of time and circles, which she explores through themes such as flowers gone to seed, wheels and the flight patterns of birds. Layers are an important part of Joyce’s work. She builds up her paintings with handmade papers, modelling paste, acrylics and oils, often sanding down certain sections for extra texture and depth. Joyce has become increasingly interested in the female experience, with her ethereal works exploring the multifaceted relationship that women have with time.
