About this artwork
รัก
This captivating original painting, titled "love รัก," beautifully merges Thai and English expressions of affection. Crafted with rich acrylics on sturdy paper, the artwork features the Thai word for love, "rak," which also reveals a subtle frog and even a moody face within its elegant strokes. This symbolic folk piece, rendered in striking black and white, invites viewers to discover their own interpretations.
The artist, having lived and worked… in Thailand for over two decades, imbues this artwork with a deep personal connection to the culture. The simplicity of the black and white palette allows the intricate details and symbolic forms to truly shine, creating a piece that is both visually engaging and rich with meaning.
I used the work 'love' written in Thai language. (after all I've lived and worked in Thailand for the past 20 odd years) รัก- that is Thai for love, spoken 'rak'. As one can see, other forms seem to appear. I can make out a frog, a moody face ....
