About this artwork
With "Eye Cosmos," I explore the tension between inner perception and universal order. Circles, lines, and symbolic forms condense in my work into complex visual systems that simultaneously evoke cosmic structures and microscopic life forms.
The recurring motif of the eye represents consciousness, memory, and observation. For me, it is both a witness and an integral part of a visual cosmos in which I translate cultural symbols—especially allusions… to the Tripolye culture—into a contemporary visual language.
In my work, I move between intuition and structure, between energy and stillness. I invite you not only to see, but to perceive – and to recognize your own inner cosmos in the external world.
Nata Statzner is a Ukrainian-Greek painter who has lived in Germany for over two decades and combines the cultural influences of her heritage in a distinctive visual language. She uses Cubist fragmentation, minimalist lines, and symbolism from Tripolye culture and Cycladic art to render mythical motifs and faces in an archaic and timeless way. Her works open up quiet spaces for self-discovery and speak of identity, rootedness, and the longing for belonging—conveying a profound sense of inner connections and the power of universal myths.
