About this artwork
During my travels in Southern Italy, I was captivated by the contrast between the deep red earth of Apulia and its ancient olive trees. The overcast sky seemed to emphasize the dignity and nobility of these long-standing witnesses to countless lives and destinies.
I felt compelled to capture a moment in which a seemingly still landscape was filled with movement. The wind swept through the silvery crowns of these silent guardians of tradition, bringing… the scene to life.
The furrows in the cultivated soil and their rhythmic pattern became a graphic tool for constructing the composition. Creating a strong sense of perspective, they draw the viewer into the image and transform an agricultural field into an emotional and dynamic landscape.
In this series, I am interested not only in the landscape itself but also in how our perception of it changes through observation. The ancient olive trees appear as still witnesses to time, while the earth seems filled with movement and energy.
