About this artwork
The Sound of Silence captures that extraordinary moment when everything seems to stop, to pause. It is about the space between sounds, where silence becomes presence — and you begin to hear yourself. The textured surface deepens this sensation: soft layers ripple like echoes, while golden threads shimmer on the canvas like silent strings of light. There is no emptiness here — only a subtle vibration, a breath, a balance. It is a portrait of inner… stillness, filled with the harmony of invisible motion. This work is part of the Inner Flow series.
Natalia Shutiak is a Ukrainian abstract artist living and working in Chicago. She holds a Master’s degree in Art Education and has over twenty years of professional experience in visual communication and creative practice. Since relocating to the United States, she has fully devoted herself to painting. Working primarily with oil and acrylic on canvas, she approaches abstraction as a way of staying honest with herself. Her paintings emerge from an attentive listening to inner emotional states shaped by change, uncertainty, and personal transformation. Through color, gesture, and texture, she traces these internal shifts until they find their own form on the surface. Her work often explores the fragile boundary between what is revealed and what remains hidden, creating space for quiet reflection and an intimate dialogue with the viewer. Her paintings are held in private collections in Ukraine, Europe, and the United States.
