The original acrylic on canvas piece is with the original Yasmin in the Netherlands.
YASMIN celebrates the serendipity of friendship and connection between two women and I superimposed my face on the real Yasmin's face.
This piece has been featured in the arts edition of House & Garden.
Whereas many of my pieces tend to work at every angle signifying complexity, there is nothing complex… about true friendship – just the surprise element of the things two women who love each other can have in common. Therefore there is only one traditional, head on view.
In this piece a woman at peace views the world, with pointillism of trees to nurture her soul depicted in the background.
This face with its radiating beauty captures the essence of love and connection between two women.
As the originator of Scribe Art and "Storyism" I am known as the people's artist and poet and have also written the poem that defines the piece.
