"The Intermission"
The ring is empty. The applause has died down, the music has stopped, and the circus performers are finally enjoying a few minutes of rest. Seated around a table, they share a simple lunch. But is that really what we're seeing?
Each character seems to play two roles simultaneously: one for others and another for themselves. The woman, positioned at the center of the composition, becomes the invisible axis around which a silent… drama revolves. The men, seated on either side, share the same space, yet are separated by feelings that cannot be entirely concealed.
In this work, there are no casual glances, gestures, or silences. Everything is part of a story that the artist chooses not to reveal, inviting the viewer to become the true director of the scene.
Who is truly happy? Who is hiding a wound? Who is jealous? Who still holds onto hope? Is this simply a lunch break?
