About this artwork
It is because I don't know what the artwork is about that I create it, - to find out. Paintings and drawings should be ineffable. I believe that artists shouldn't know why they make the choices that go into making an artwork. Supposing an artist has given their explanation of why they did what they did, it is then impossible for the viewer to forget what they have learnt, denying them the opportunity to use their own imagination to interpret what…
they see. I know that many people find comfort in 'knowledge' (which is probably why religious belief is so prevalent) but I recommend that you just trust yourself and don't let some quasi-authoritative explanation get in the way of your own creativity.
