About this artwork
The painting was started in 2019 and felt to the artist as if it was completed. However, as the Coronavirus spread and as World leaders - notably Donald Trump (as depicted in the painting) - wandered aimlessly into the crisis the picture seemed to take on a new resonance. The artist worked more on the picture to accord with this new vision. It now stands as an indictment of the complacency of Western leaders who sleepwalked into disaster - hence…
