About this artwork
The picture is based on participants in a May Pole dance (an old English custom). The image depicts a process of transformation in which the dancers on the left are willing the changes inflicted on the dancer to the right. The painting was featured in the 2018 London Contemporary Art Prize exhibition and was shortlisted for the award.
