About this artwork
The concept of the project is inspired by Marc Augé's book "Non-places. Introduction to an anthropology of supermodernity." Those spaces of anonymity that are more numerous every day and frequented by similar but lonely individuals. Non-places are both the infrastructures for fast transportation(highways, stations, airports) and the means of transportation themselves (cars, trains, planes). Nonplaces are supermarkets, large hotel chains with their…
interchangeable rooms interchangeable, but also the refugee camps where are parked indefinitely the refugees from war and misery. The non-place is the opposite of a dwelling, a residence, a a place in the common sense of the term. And its anonymity, paradoxically, is accessed only by providing proof of one's identity: passport, credit card. Through my project I expanded this idea to mental places as well, where feelings and memories combine to recreate that situation of nonplace.
